Teaching

I teach undergraduate and postgraduate linguistics at Thammasat University. My principal specialist areas are psycholinguistics and clinical linguistics, with related teaching in second language acquisition, English phonetics and phonology, and language learning and pedagogy.

This page introduces the main areas I teach and their relationship with my research. Psycholinguistics

Psycholinguistics is my principal specialist teaching area and the clearest connection between my teaching, experimental research, research supervision, and the CLP Lab. I teach the subject at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Clinical Linguistics

I developed the Department's postgraduate Clinical Linguistics course and later adapted it for undergraduate provision. I now teach the subject regularly at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, introducing non-clinical linguistics students to the field as an academic discipline rather than professional clinical training.

Related Teaching Areas

Second Language Acquisition

I teach second language acquisition at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The subject takes a multidisciplinary view of the linguistic, cognitive, individual-difference, and social factors involved in learning and using a second language. It connects particularly with my research on the component processes involved in L2 English reading and spoken-language performance, with planned extensions to listening comprehension.

English Phonetics and Phonology

I teach the phonetic and phonological organisation of English, including consonants and vowels, phonetic transcription, articulation, and connected speech. The relationship between speech perception and production also informs my developing research on L2 speech processing.

Language Learning and Pedagogy

In Approaches to Foreign Language Teaching, I survey historical methods and approaches alongside the linguistic, cognitive, psychological, and social influences on language pedagogy. Students then apply these perspectives to method evaluation, lesson planning, and teaching practice.

Research Connection

Psycholinguistics and L2 processing provide the clearest connections between my teaching and research. Students encounter experimental questions, behavioural methods, and examples from language-processing studies, while undergraduate, master's, and doctoral supervision provides a more sustained route into research.
